Recipe: Cheesecake Brownies

Screen Shot 2016-07-19 at 9.20.35 AMDo you love cheesecake and brownies but can’t decide which one to make? Want a way to spice up your next batch of brownies? Need an original snack for a party? Here’s your answer: Cheesecake Brownies. I made these for a party and they turned out fantastic. They were a crowd favorite and I am looking forward to making more.

Ingredients (For 16 2x2in. brownies):
Cooking spray
Cooking Pan/Foil Tray
Cheesecake topping:
8 ounces cream cheese
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 large egg
Brownie Layer:
2 oz. semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped OR chocolate chips
3 tbsp unsalted butter
2 tbsp canola oil
1 cup flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder OR baking soda
1 pinch salt
3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large egg whites
2 tsp vanilla extract
-OR- use a boxed brownie mix

Directions:

  • preheat oven to 350°F
  • mix all of the brownie ingredients together in  a bowl until mixture is smooth
  • mix the cheesecake topping ingredients together in a separate bowl
  • put half of the brownie batter into your cooking pan, let this set for 10 minutes
  • pour the cheesecake topping on top of the brownie batter in the pan
  • add the remaining brownie batter on top
  • use a spoon or fork to create a swirling effect with the cheesecake topping and brownie batter
  • bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top has just set
  • let the brownie cool, cut into pieces and enjoy!
